Carrie Bradshaw once said, "Women come to New York for the two L's: Labels and Love." I would say the same goes for interns, but with a little more emphasis on labels. No matter how many interns travel to this amazing city in the summer seeking career experience, labels are always on one's mind. Being New York City intern opens your eyes to a whole new world. Once you have landed your dream internship, the stress about what to wear begins to slowly haunt oneself. After all, this is the fashion capital of the world. Dressing for a summer internship in New York City always brings about a challenge. How can I manage to arrive at work looking somewhat normal after riding the subway and walking ten blocks in the scorching heat? I say, you must choose your outfit wisely.

Today's Internship Fashionista was spotted strolling through Washington Square Park on her way to MKG. I immediately noticed her classic look that featured many internship wardrobe essentials. As an intern, one must always own a black blazer. A blazer allows you to dress up any outfit, whether it's jeans or a dress. A lightweight linen one is a wise choice of fabric when attempting to conquer the summer heat

The hours of an intern are always changing. One day you could be working five hours and twelve the next. Comfort is something to keep in mind when deciding on the perfect outfit. What looks like a skirt on this Internship Fashionista is actually BCBG pleated shorts. Dress shorts are completely acceptable at many internships if they are an appropriate length and fabric. Maxi skirt's are a great alternative to shorts and have become extremely popular for summer, especially bright colored ones.

The streets of New York City are filled with trendsetters. The best way to stand out among the crowds is with statement jewelry. You can never go wrong with a classic look and bold jewelry. The necklace worn by today's Fashionista is a great accent against black. She finishes off the look with black wedges, a wise choice of shoes for any intern looking to make it home without blisters. Steve Madden has a huge selection of summer wedges. Neutral and black ones are necessary to have for any internship.
Rooftop lounges, weekends in Central Park, and delicious restaurants are just a few things that make summer in the city worthwhile. I believe fashion inspiration is one the greatest things New York City has to offer. As an intern, this is the time to discover your true fashion style. I challenge you to try at least one new trend this summer. Good luck to my fellow interns out there and stay confident throughout the journey. This is the concrete jungle where dreams are made, just be sure to look fabulous while doing so.
